Reno neighborhoods
Which Reno neighborhood fits how you want to live?
Tell me how you want to live, and I'll tell you which neighborhoods fit. Here is where I would start.
Which Reno neighborhoods have established trees?
If you like neighborhoods with more established trees, look at Old Southwest Reno and parts of Southwest Reno.
Which Reno neighborhoods have walking trails?
Somersett is a great neighborhood for walking trails, and so is Caughlin Ranch. Meadowridge has beautiful walking trails. Lakeside Lewis backs up to Bartley Ranch, which has a lot of walking trails. The community of Damonte Ranch also has a lot of walking trails.
Where can I live in the pine trees near Reno?
If you want to live in the pine trees, Galena Forest and parts of Montreux have that.
Where in Reno can I walk to restaurants and boutique shops?
Midtown is a great place for that, or Old Southwest, which is right next to Midtown.
What are the best spas in Reno?
My favorite spas in town are at the Peppermill, the Atlantis and Dolce Vita in Rancharrah.
Which Reno neighborhoods are close to the Truckee River?
Old Southwest Reno and downtown are close to the Truckee River.
Where should I live in Reno for skiing?
Northwest Reno and places like Somersett are close to I-80, which is closer to Northstar, Palisades Tahoe and Sugar Bowl. Neighborhoods off Mt. Rose Highway, including Mountaingate, Montreux, Galena Forest, Saddlehorn and Thomas Creek, are close to Mt. Rose Ski Resort, and the highway leads on to Diamond Peak Ski Resort.
Which Reno neighborhoods have a golf course?
Somersett has its own golf course, and so does Montreux. ArrowCreek has its own golf course in the community, and there is a golf course in Lakeridge. Mountaingate does not have its own course, but it is close to Wolf Run Golf Club. Hidden Valley, on the southeast side of Reno, has its own golf course and country club. In Sparks, Wingfield Springs has homes on the Red Hawk golf course.
Where can I have horses and acreage near Reno?
For horses and acreage, look at Washoe Valley, Southwest Reno or Pleasant Valley. Washoe Valley, Holcomb Ranch and Pacetti Ranch are all equestrian-friendly. Pacetti Ranch is full of custom homes, and a lot of people don't know about it, because it isn't noticeable from the road. Pleasant Valley is a tucked-in, quiet little community just north of Washoe Valley. A lot of people don't know about it. It has bigger lots, and on some of those properties you can have horses.
Where should I live near Reno if I have off-road vehicles or ATVs?
There are neighborhoods in Damonte Ranch that back up to off-road trails, at the base of the foothills leading up to Virginia City. Virginia City Highlands is a great place for that too, and so are Spanish Springs and Washoe Valley. People take their off-road vehicles on BLM lands, owned by the Bureau of Land Management, which have public trails. There is a lot of exploring here, and you can find different areas with petroglyphs. That is something you definitely can't find on the East Coast, and people love that about our area.
Which Reno neighborhoods have the best views?
For mountain views, look at Somersett. Pleasant Valley has some beautiful views as well. For beautiful views of the valley, you can live in ArrowCreek, Caughlin Ranch or places in Southwest Reno.
Which Reno neighborhoods are gated?
Montreux, ArrowCreek, Mountaingate and Pacetti Ranch are gated communities. There are also gated neighborhoods in Damonte Ranch, South Meadows and Caughlin Ranch, and some parts of Somersett are gated, though not all of them.
Where can I find luxury homes in Reno?
Beyond Montreux and ArrowCreek, you can find luxury homes in Galena Forest, Somersett and Caughlin Ranch. See my page on luxury real estate in Reno.
Where can I find older homes with character in Reno?
If you like older homes with more character, look at Old Southwest Reno and the Newlands Historic District. Old Northwest is another area to look, and Northwest Reno also has older homes at more approachable prices, close to the UNR campus.
Where can I find newer homes in Reno?
South Reno is one of the places I show buyers who want a newer home, ideally on one level. Damonte Ranch has newer neighborhoods, wide streets and mountain views. There are also a lot of newer homes in the North Valleys of Reno.
