Shannon's home base, and the center of her primary service area.
Living in Reno
Reno is the center of my business and has been my home since 2013. It is a city with real range: historic neighborhoods close to downtown, golf course communities in the foothills, and newer master-planned developments on the edges, all within a market that has grown significantly as more people relocate here from California and beyond for the lack of state income tax, the access to Lake Tahoe, and a lifestyle that costs meaningfully less than the coast.

How Shannon Comstock Serves Reno
I am a licensed Nevada REALTOR® with RE/MAX Gold, working Reno full time since 2014, with a particular focus on Reno's luxury neighborhoods. I know two Reno neighborhoods especially closely, Newlands Historic District and Lakeside Lewis, and work extensively across Southwest Reno, Caughlin Ranch, Montreux, ArrowCreek, Rancharrah, Somersett, and Galena Forest. Whether you are buying or selling, I run the same process, laid out in full at how I sell homes and how I help you buy.
Reno Neighborhoods & Communities
Reno's neighborhoods vary widely in character. Southwest Reno and Old Southwest Reno sit close to downtown with established, walkable streets. Newlands Historic District is one of the city's most recognizable historic areas. Golf course communities like Montreux, ArrowCreek, and Lakeridge sit in the foothills, while Somersett, Sterling Ranch, and Galena Forest represent newer and more suburban development. See the full list of Reno neighborhoods I work.
Reno Housing Market & Home Types
Reno's housing stock ranges from early-1900s homes in historic districts to modern custom builds in the foothill golf communities. In 2026 so far I have closed $8.2 million in sales, an average of about $823,000 per home, and my listings have sold for an average of 99.23 percent of their list price. The luxury segment, $1M and up, moves on a longer timeline with thinner comps, which is exactly why pricing strategy matters more at higher price points, not less.
Neighborhood Tour & Local Lifestyle
Day to day, Reno offers a mix most people don't expect until they've lived here: a genuine downtown, easy access to the Truckee River, and, for anyone willing to drive 45 minutes to an hour, some of the best skiing and alpine scenery in the country at Lake Tahoe. It is a city that still feels like a city, without the commute or cost of one on the coast.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Reno a good place to buy a home right now?
It depends on your budget, timeline, and the specific neighborhood you're considering. I'll give you an honest read on current conditions for your specific situation rather than a generic yes or no.
What makes Reno different from Las Vegas or other Nevada cities?
Reno is smaller, closer to Lake Tahoe and the Sierra, and has a different economic base, more tech, logistics, and outdoor recreation, less tourism and gaming-driven. It also has genuine historic neighborhoods that Las Vegas mostly does not.
